Caroline Perrin is a nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center and a postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University, working on the RE-WIRING project funded by the European Commission. This project focuses on the laws aiming to facilitate inclusion, representation, and empowerment of girls and women. Perrin holds a PhD in finance from the University of Strasbourg, where she completed her thesis titled “Essays on Gender and Finance” under the supervision of Laurent Weill. She also holds an MSc in research in economics and finance from EM Lyon, University Lyon II, and Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon.

Her research primarily explores the intersections of gender, entrepreneurship, and finance, examining how gendered norms and laws impact women’s economic outcomes. Her work investigates critical areas such as women’s self-perception and access to credit, the gendered effects of economic policy uncertainty on corporate investment, and the role of gender equality in enhancing financial stability. Her professional experience includes serving as a consultant for the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law team and as a research consultant at Banque de France.
