Lieutenant Colonel Gregg F. Curley is the 2024-2025 US Marine Corps fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. 

Curley’s most recent assignment was as the commanding officer of the Third Recruit Training Battalion in the Recruit Training Regiment at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. 

Curley was commissioned via the Officer Candidates Course in August 2006. In 2012, Curley deployed to Nawa, Afghanistan, as a civil affairs team leader. He has served in a variety of litigation billets as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney.  

Curley holds a certificate in strategy and policy development from the Army War College. He earned a Bachelor of Science in management and finance, as well as an MBA from Sacred Heart University. Additionally, he holds a JD from Roger Williams University, an LLM from the Army Judge Advocate General School, a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from the Air Command and Staff College, and a Master of Military Studies from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and admitted to practice before the Navy and Marine Corps Court of Appeals, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the Court of Appeals for Veterans’ Claims, and the US Supreme Court. 

Curley’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (third award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (third award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (third award). Curley is married with two children.
