Simina Tulbure is a 2024 Millennium fellow and a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament. She is the vice president of the Renew the European Project of Romania party and Romania’s first woman member of Parliament (MP) to represent the Romanian diaspora. As an MP, Tulbure plays a leading role in Romania’s efforts to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and has initiated legislation aimed at combating human trafficking, diaspora affairs, e-identity cards, guaranteeing safe abortion procedures, and decriminalizing cannabis for personal consumption in Romania. Before her tenure as MP, Tulbure worked for the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank. She holds an MA in English language and literature and a BA in English language from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, where she received multiple community building awards. Her interest in the English-speaking world is also reflected in her current activities in Parliament, where she chairs the Romania-UK parliamentary friendship group.
